AGEING FARMER AND UNAVAILABILITY OF YOUNG SUCCESSION
Inevitably there is an ageing crisis in farming today, farmers are getting older (56 years old on average) and less than 5% of the workforce is under 25 and over 300,000 farmers were primed to retire in the coming decade. With only a few young farmers to take up the rein and with further restriction on foreign labour dependency. Food security will be an escalating issue not too long from now.
